Travel Stories

Winslow, Arizona

I had to get the photo… I just had to.

We had driven considerably out of the way. The short route was 3 hours and 29 minutes from Canyon de Chelly to Sedona but I had t get a shot of me standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona so Yim humoured me.

We got into town and found a perfect spot across from the Winslow Post Office and i parked the RV and took my place on a corner and Yim snapped this photo.

Satisfied, we wandered off back to the RV and started her up, ready to head to SEdona.

I checked the side mirrors and could see  a fire hydrant on the street side but no traffic coming so I pulled out slowly but it was a 27 foot RV, and when I pulled out, the passenger side swung in and connected with the plug on the fire hydrant, punctured the RV and as I drove forward, tore a 2 inch hole in the length of the rear quarter panel. Grrr…

Yim likes to remind me the photo cost me a little over $1,000.00.
