I thought that a post featuring some chronological photos of the past seventy years would be a fun thing to look back at.
I was born in NDG in Montreal on June 27, 1955 and my French Canadian Mother – Grace Cadieux – made sure she got me out of the city and onto her family’s farm as early as possible. The first photo below shows me in her arms with my maternal Grandmother, Rose-Anne Daoust, nee Cadieux, in front of one of the barns on the large dairy farm they owned in Dunvegan, Ontario, where I spent many of my summers while growing up. With a hundred acres of land, cows, horses, pigs and chickens as well as many cousins, it was a great place to be as a child.
When I was five, we moved from Montreal out to the small town of Chateauguay, where the fields started just outside our backyard and the forests stretched all the way to what is now Kanesetake. My Mom used to take me on long walks in the wooded areas, teaching me to identify trees and what we could pick to eat and I loved spending time in those forests.
My favourite telltale sign of things to come in the photos below is the model sailboat in my bedroom window in one of the photos below.
Since those early years, life has been an evolving adventure and as I turn 70, the adventures are far from over as Yim and I have just booked a 7 week tour of Costa Rica in 2026.
Enjoy. I hope at least one photo makes you smile. It almost seems that I’ve become respectable…
Happy 70th Birthday to ME 🙂
